Irene Thiede holds a Masters degree in economics from the University of Cape Town and is Finance Manager for CSSP, responsible for budget management, controlling and financial reporting, as well as fund acquisition and management. Before joining CSSP, she spent seven years as a researcher and consultant for projects in economic development for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), UNICEF and other international institutions. Her consulting and research work focus on evaluation, international trade and economic relations, access to healthcare and the organisation of health systems as well as sustainable tourism development. She also spent two years providing financial controlling services for integration projects in Berlin Neukölln. Irene has received mediation training and also enjoys lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
